Major advances have been made in the
management of burn injury. However, optimum initial management is essential
for these new advances to be of benefit.
The focus of this section will
be on:
1. Initial assessment and treatment of life
threatening problems of airway, breathing and circulation.
2. Recognition of burn severity,
depth, size, as well as the initial wound management.
