Burn Wound Itch

There are also two distinct itch responses. The first is an itch that is well localized to the site of the stimulus and persists only briefly after the stimulus is removed.

The second itch is a diffusely localized area surrounding a site of stimulus that does not itch spontaneously but responds if intense itching when subjected a minor stimulus like the touch of clothes, warmth or movement.

This is known as itch skin and is a well described form of itch in the healed burn wound.

The situation is analogous to pain of the site of a pin prick and the pain sensation, called hyperalgesia if the surrounding skin is to touch.
